“Best New Restaurants 2007”

Although his career has spanned the globe, Chef Shaun Doty’s passion lies in serving ingredient-driven, seasonal and heartfelt dishes at his namesake restaurant in Atlanta. His cuisine has earned him a place among the nation’s most prominent chefs, and his casual neighborhood bistro has become a favorite among Atlanta residents for modern interpretations of classic brasserie fare.

Doty opened Shaun’s in the heart of Atlanta’s historic Inman Park neighborhood in October 2006 and quickly earned the praise of critics and diners alike. His cooking is the product of both his point of view — that the best cuisine is based on fresh, local ingredients and simply prepared — and a yearlong journey through the kitchens of great restaurants all over the world.

Before opening his current restaurant, Doty was executive chef at Table 1280, the restaurant that anchors the piazza of architect Renzo Piano’s renovation of Atlanta’s Woodruff Arts Center. His career also includes experience working with Chef Guenter Seeger at the renowned Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, as well as stints in France and Belgium at Michelin-starred restaurants Comme Chez Soi, Restaurant Bruno, Restaurant Claude Dupont, Restaurant Barbizon and Restaurant Troisgros.

Doty recently served as a guest chef in New York at two Chelsea Market Sunday Supper events, which raise funds for the James Beard Foundation. He is also actively involved in fundraising for causes relating to autism and pervasive developmental disorder and serves as a founding member of Believe in Me Foundation, which is an organization for the continuing education of children with autism.
